England all-rounder Ben Stokes once again involved in an altercation with Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal as he was seen exchanging heated words during the opening match of the Champions Trophy at Oval on Thursday.
Stokes, who has the history of involving in altercations in international matches, looked discontent after Tamim dispatched him for a four in the third ball of the 32nd over.
Tamim, who was in sublime touch, made his ninth century by scoring 128 runs off 142 balls and frustrated all the bowlers with his innings that had 12 boundaries and three sixes.
Stokes, who removed Tamim’s opening partner Soumya Sarkar, did not only exchange words but at the end of the over he approached toward Tamim, kept uttering words and pat on his shoulder.
Tamim was upset with the bowler touching his hand and he showed discontent before the umpired stepped in to calm things down.
Stokes then went to the boundary line and waved for the local crowd to get the support and appreciation.
Stokes had a history with Tamim as he had created controversy after he showed fingers and pushed the Bangladeshi while the Tigers were leaving the field shaking hands with the opponents in an ODI at Dhaka on October 10.
Bangladesh’s celebration during the match
seemed to infuriate English skipper Jos Buttler
in that match as he showed wrath in the field after he was out and Bangladesh fielders also returned heated words.
That was carried during the post-match handshake and Tamim became victim of Stokes’ anger.
Even in the Test series during that tour, Stokes was fined for his behavioural problems after he was involved in an altercation with Bangladesh’s Sabbir Rahman.
Stokes was fined 15 percent of his match fee on that occasion.
