New Zealand Cricket on Tuesday confirmed the itinerary for Bangladesh’s tour to New Zealand in March next year, which will be the national team’s first tour to the country after narrowly avoiding the Christchurch mosque shootings last year.
Bangladesh will play three one-day internationals and an equal number of Twenty20 matches, with the ODIs taking place at Dunedin, Christchurch and Wellington on March 13, 17 and 20 respectively.
The Tigers will then take on the hosts for three Twenty20s on March 23, 26 and 28 at Napier, Auckland and Hamilton respectively.
NZC confirmed the itinerary one day after Bangladesh Cricket Board called off the Sri Lanka tour for now due to strict quarantine policy.
Through a media release, BCB chief executive officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury expressed his gratitude to NZC for giving a clear picture well in advance.
‘I must compliment NZC for confirming the itinerary which was a real challenge due to the pandemic. This tour now holds added significance as we try to come out of the disruption to cricket caused by COVID-19 together and return to normalcy,’ Nizamuddin was quoted saying in the media release.
‘We are really looking forward to playing in New Zealand. Bangladesh and New Zealand have established a very healthy rivalry in limited overs cricket in recent years and this series promises to be exciting and competitive,’ he added.
NZC unveiled their summer schedule on Tuesday which showed that the blackcaps will face West Indies, Pakistan, Australia and Bangladesh throughout their cricket season which begins on November 27.
NZC chief executive officer David White was very thrilled after announcing an action-packed summer.
