Bangladesh’s Under-19 World Cup winning captain Akbar Ali felt the difference between age-level and higher level cricket in the recently concluded BCB President’s Cup and hoped that the experience will help him develop as a cricketer.
The wicket-keeper batsman is now training with the High Performance unit along with few of his Under-19 team-mates at the BCB Academy ground.
Akbar, who was drafted into Tamim XI in the President’s Cup, cut sorry figures in both the matches he played but said that he learned a lot about the difference between age-level and professional cricket.
‘I think the main difference here is the competition level is very high. The players are not of the same age and we have to play against the experienced cricketers. So I think we have to be more competitive because the competition is more intense,’ Akbar told the media.
Akbar has been training with the HP unit since October 27 under HP team’s new coach Toby Radford and said that he is enjoying his time in the camp.
‘Camps are meant for development. The basic idea is to move ahead from where I was. Now I am in the HP unit and trying to learn and enjoy the time here. The coach is putting emphasis on our batting. He is watching our videos and will give us directives about how to do well.’ -new age
