Bangladesh pacer Al-Amin Hossain was excited by the prospect of once again training under the national team’s coaching staff from next week when they return to Bangladesh after a long COVID-19 break.
All members of the Tigers’ coaching staff, including head coach Russell Domingo, bowling coach Ottis Gibson and the recently resigned former batting coach Neil McKenzie, have been away from Bangladesh soon after the COVID-19 outbreak reached the country in mid-March.
The coaches have kept in touch with the players during the past five months, through multiple online sessions, giving out pointers on how to keep fit and work on their skill while staying mostly indoors.
But with the Sri Lanka tour approaching, Bangladesh Cricket Board wanted to bring back the coaches in person and they also have replied positively to the board’s wish, BCB cricket operations chairman Akram Khan had told the media.
Al-Amin was looking forward to once again having the coaches alongside him and other players.
‘Next week, our coaches will return among us. So, we are hoping in the coming days our practice facilities will improve even further, where we will prepare ourselves for the Sri Lanka tour,’ Al-Amin told the media in a video message sent by BCB.
Bangladesh will play three Tests against Sri Lanka in October-November, which are part of the ICC World Test Championship. -new age
