Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh on Saturday decided that they will request Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis to restart the indefinitely postponed Dhaka Premier League after Eid-ul-Fitr.
CWAB took the decision after an online executive committee meeting, where national team cricketers Tamim Iqbal, Mominul Haque also joined in.
‘We have decided to send a letter to CCDM to resume DPL after Eid complying health regulation,’ said Debabrata Paul, member secretary of CWAB, after the meeting on Saturday.
As the government is slowly easing restrictions, CWAB felt that the DPL, which is a primary income source for majority of the first-class cricketers of Bangladesh, could also resume.
‘We want the DPL to resume as per the directives of the government. The government has relaxed a lot of things…In cricket field 22 players’ play and a player can distance himself from others. So I feel we can start playing cricket while following the government’s rules,’ he said.
The DPL was postponed on March 16.
