Cumilla High School defeated Bogura Police Lines School and College by three wickets in the final of the Prime Bank National School Cricket 2018-19 to be crowned champions at the Rangpur Cricket Garden in Rangpur on Tuesday. Last edition’s champions Bogura Police Lines School and College were bundled out for a paltry 111 after opting to bat first. In reply, Cumilla High School’s Abu Bakar struck a quick fire 49 of just 38 balls to take his team to championship glory in their first participation. Bakar’s batting brilliance earned him the man-of-the final award while his team-mate Sabbir Alam won the man-of-the tournament award. Rangpur Division Sports Association’s chairman Mohammad Joynul Bari, Bangladesh Cricket Board Director Advocate Anowarul Islam and a few other dignitaries distributed the prizes amongst the winners after the match.
Over 11,000 students from 558 schools took part in this countrywide competition organised by BCB and sponsored by Prime Bank Limited.
